Our Enduring Connection with The Huntington

Brenda and David Anderson

Our connection to The Huntington goes back a long way, even beyond our almost 40-year membership. Before Brenda was born, there was a family connection to The Huntington—a small black and white photo from 1939 shows Brenda's older sisters and her mother sitting on the edge of the fountain in front of The Huntington Library. David's first visit was in 1963 as a college student, and at that time there was a tiny gift shop and no admission fee.

Although the gardens, the art museum, the library, and the intellectual stimulation of many various lectures brought us and continues to bring us to The Huntington, our increased financial commitment and involvement in the Heritage Society and the Society of Fellows has been driven by the changes we see in The Huntington's broader outreach efforts to the community and families. As retired high school teachers, we feel we are supporting educational outreach programs to students, which is very meaningful to us. We feel welcomed by the staff of both the Heritage Society and the Society of Fellows and feel they make an effort to cultivate personal relationships. We enjoy the many memorable activities and events for members too!

We are impressed with the quality of the leadership and staff at The Huntington as it responds to changing times and events, and we are proud to be a part of a world-class institution.
